Welcome to the Tawny Owls page
Autumn 2 - this term we will be learning all about the Victorians!
Autumn 1 - our topic this term is Owls. We will be learning all about these woodland animals, as werll as all their neighbours and the habitat they live in!
Summer 2 - our topic is this term is Wind in the Willows. We will be learning all about the story and the different characters, as well as river and woodland habitats and different sports such as rowing.
3rd May - How excited we were to learn about all sorts of interesting creatures with the Zoolab today!
We held a tortoise, giant millipede, snake and even a dragon! We talked with Alan about what they eat, how they move and where their natural habitat would be. In Tawny Owls we love to get our hands on the real thing!
April - We have been fascinated to watch our ducklings hatching and growing. We have learnt how to care for them and how they change.
We launched our topic with a visit from Mrs Robinson, a very friendly gorilla, who answered lots of our questions. We dressed up as explorers for the day and had lots of different explorer activities!
Spring 1 - this term our topic will be Take One Picture, and we will be using a Japanese artefact from the Ashmolean Museum to focus on different aspects of Japan, including birds and Samurai armour, as well as different armoured animals around the world
On our visit to the Ashmolean we learnt all about the Samurai and even had the chance to make our own Samurai helmets.
We had to work as a team when local artist, Amanda Schenk, came in to help us create a Japanese blossom themed piece of art. Fantastic work, Tawny Owls!
To celebrate our Japanese topic we held a Japanese Day and drank different types of tea and had a go at making sushi. Have a look at some of our wonderful costumes.
We had our Teddy bear week and we all brought in a teddy from home. We decorated teddy shaped biscuits and had our very own teddy bears' picnic!
We have enjoyed our Toy Day where we dressed up as different toy dolls - here are a few of the Tawny Owl toys enjoying the day!
Tawny Owls have thought about journeys all round the world and celebrated International Day, where we learnt about different countries and cultures - and the music they play there!
We have been exploring different journeys and the transport that we use to get to different places.
We have used wheels in different ways as well as using our imagination to go on fantasy journeys on a magic carpet or even a hot air balloon!
We read Rosie's Walk and went on our own journey across the school playground, showing where Rosie and the fox went along their way.
