Our Sustainability Journey

Our Sustainability Leads are Mrs Cullum and Mrs Dale.

At Burchetts Green we take our responsibility to our sustainability goals very seriously. By making sustainability part of everyday school life, we’re helping children develop a deep sense of responsibility, hope, and action. We want our pupils to believe they can make a difference – and to feel proud of doing so.

While caring for our world has always been a key value of ours, this year we have made further efforts by creating our Burchetts Green Climate Action Plan. This ensures we have actions for each key sustainability category: decarbonisation and energy efficiency, biodiversity and green infrastructure, and climate education and green skills.

Eco Council

The Eco Council is a very important part of our sustainability journey. Our team comprises of two representatives from each of Year 1 and Year 2. During meetings, they identify environmental issues and opportunities and talk through the practicalities of implementing different projects. They then feed back to their classes to keep the whole school involved. This school year so far, the children have carried out litter picking, planted plant pollinators and talked about how we can save energy around school.
